toxCSM Endpoint: hERG II Inhibitor

Description

The inhibition of the potassium channels encoded by hERG (human ether-go-go gene) is one of the main causes for the emergence of acquired long QT syndrome, which can lead to fatal ventricular arrhythmia. Therefore, analysing if a chemical compound can affect or not these channels is essential for heart toxicity/cardiotoxicity purposes. It is worth noting that this endpoint characterizes compounds that can inhibit hERG II.
