PSEN2 (UniProt: P49810)

The presenilin 1 (PSEN1) and presenilin 2 (PSEN2) proteins are the major components of γ-secretase which participates in the cleavage of APP and produce the β-amyloid (Aβ) peptides. Mutations in PSEN2 are suspected to increase the activity of γ-secretase¹.
