APOE (UniProt: P02649)
Apolipoprotein E (APOE) lipoprotein participates in the lipid metabolism by binding to a number of cell surface receptors1. Three polymorphic alleles, ε2, ε3 and ε4, are reported with a worldwide frequency of around 8%, 78%, and 14%. Among them, the ε4-APOE could drastically increase the risk of Late-onset AD (LOAD).
